ALLIE HERRMANN

2017-Present
Tom & Allie began working together in 2017, as a flamenco dance and guitar duo. Together, they received the highest ever performance mark (96) on the MA Music (Performance) course at University of Salford. They now teach and perform across the region.
Allie has danced all her life, originally trained in ballet and contemporary. She studied at Art College and re-found dance through flamenco.

Allie now teaches flamenco classes in Manchester and Leeds. She loves to share the passion and self-expression of flamenco.

THE BAND

After relocating to Manchester in February 2021, Tom got in touch with former university bandmates to form a new backing band for folk/rock covers gigs, with a setlist including Bob Dylan, The Band, Richard Ashcroft, Van Morrison, The Waterboys etc.

Although Tom writes his own material, he rarely performs it live. Instead, he focuses these songwriting and compositional skills into various commissions, projects, workshops and private tuition.
​
In 2020, Tom was commissioned to write a song for the short narrative film Curtain Fall, which was created by Route Nine Studios, in aid of The HoneyRose Foundation - a charity that grants last wishes for terminally ill adults.

SANCHEZ & RIGG

Tom has teamed up with duo Leticia Sanchez & Anders Rigg to explore both flamenco and Scottish traditional music. This trio project is in its infancy, but they have two gigs booked in October (see Events page) after a successful post-lockdown test-gig at the Mortal Man, Lake District, in June 2021.

Leticia is a Spanish multi-disciplined dancer, trained in Spanish and Contemporary Dance. Anders Rigg is a Scottish percussionist, vocalist and physical performer. Both have performed extensively across Europe in their disciplines, Leticia with choreographers such as, AÃda Gómez, José Antonio, José Maldonado, Slanjavah Danza (Scotland) and Anders with the band Samson Sounds and physical theatre company Oceanallover.

XI FRACTAL

Xi Fractal is a 12-year old self-taught percussionist. He has been wowing audiences all summer in 2021, with his incredible festival performances. Xi has been drumming with Mobius Loop since he was 8 years old and we are all so proud of his development. He even blew The Turbans away backstage at Audio Farm / One Tribe Festival.

After jamming on-stage together at Audio Farm in September 2021, Tom asked Xi to join his band for at upcoming acoustic covers gigs (see Events page). Xi has also begun learning the flamenco compas...

PAST PROJECTS
TOM METCALFE & THE STRING THEORISTS

2019-2020
The String Theorists were a 6-piece folk-rock band who performed at gigs and festivals throughout 2019 and 2020. They recorded ten original live demos as part of Tom's MA Music (Performance) course, which are currently unreleased.
