Later in the year, Tom plans to submit a PhD proposal and take the next step towards the ambition of becoming a university lecturer and published author.

Along with several local folk and world musicians, Tom runs a monthly traditional music session at the Dulcimer Bar, Chorlton, on the 4th Thursday of each month (8pm-11pm) everyone welcome.

PRS FOR MUSIC

"Manchester singer-songwriter Tom Metcalfe is regarded by those in the know as one of the region’s best kept musical secrets. His unique blend of flamenco and folk has certainly made him stand out from the crowd in the North West’s open mic circuit. It’s this individuality which made him a natural choice for PRS for Music’s new Songs for Manchester initiative.

Launched by GoGo Penguin and Everything Everything last month, the collecting society’s new campaign sees five fast emerging, local songwriters spending the next month travelling around the city and writing songs."

“His voice oozes maturity, there is such truth in the way he tells his stories you would believe he was actually there. Tom shows with tracks such as ‘Just Lads,’ he commands so much respect and attention from the audience. I think this could be a massive year for him as his EP comes out this year also so keep your ears and eyes peeled for the launch, it’s going to be one to be a part of."
